Year 12

Introduction

Welcome to the Year 12 Visual Arts course. This course aims to encourage and develop students’ ability to respond to their environment in an independent way. Students are encouraged to make artworks and study artworks in relationship to one another and this should be reflected in their visual diaries. Learning experiences should encourage students to experiment with the expressive potential of forms and facilitate expertise in written responses to images and objects studied in order to develop their competence and ability to answer Section 1 and Section 2 from the HSC examination paper. In the HSC Course emphasis is placed on more interpretive investigations and relationships through:

  • The content of practice, conceptual framework, frames.

  • The development of a body of work.

  • Use of a process diary.

Investigation of content through at least 5 case studies in art criticism and art history.

Aim:

  • To refine and develop their ability to evaluate their artwork and that of other people.

  • To develop vocabulary, perception and attitudes in relationship to artworks and their function.

  • To allow students the opportunity to achieve BOS outcomes.

  • To produce artworks of quality.

  • To appreciate art as an integral part of God’s world.
