Assessment Criteria

Assessment for Units 1-4

Based on the assessment criteria, the whole units will naturally fulfill the content with specified worksheets and class activities. All students will understand their process of assessment based upon feedback in many forms. Assignments will be given a raw mark out of 100%. Some class activities will also be assessed with raw marks based on the weighted assessments and outcomes.

Critical and Art Historical Studies

5.1 Applies their understanding of aspects of practice to critical and historical interpretations of art

5.2 Uses their understanding of the function of and relationships between artist-artwork-world audience in critical and historical interpretations of art.

5.3 Demonstrates how the frames provide different interpretations of art.

5.4 Demonstrate how art criticism and art history construct meanings.

Art Making

5.5 Develops range and autonomy in selecting and applying visual arts conventions and procedures to make artworks.

5.6 Makes artworks informed by their understanding of function of and relationships between artist-artwork-world audiences.

5.7 Makes artworks informed by an understanding of how the frames affect meaning.

5.8 Investigates the world as a source of ideas, concepts and subject matter in the visual arts.

5.9 Makes informed choices to develop and extend concepts and different meanings in their artworks.

5.10 Demonstrates developing technical accomplishment and refinement in making artworks.

Internal Assessment

  • demonstrates a good understanding of the conventions and techniques of sculpture in planning and designing an installation.

  • uses the structural frame and the conceptual framework to select appropriate materials, objects and construction techniques to create signs and symbols.

  • experiments, evaluates, reflects and considers judgements and intentions in communicating a perceptive point of view about through diagrams, annotated sketches and documentation in the Visual Arts diary.

Grade A: The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.

100% - 80%

Grade B: The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

79% - 60%

Grade C: The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.

59% - 30%

Grade D: The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.

29% -10%

Grade E: The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding in few areas of the content and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.
